Class of 2011
Daryl Taylor ’11 has built a successful career in engineering and operations, currently serving as Launch & Delivery Manager in Fabric Care at Procter & Gamble. In just three years with P&G, he has already distinguished himself, earning the CEO Award in 2024 and the IWS Champion Award in 2025. His role focuses on leading project execution for contract manufacturing, where he combines problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration to deliver results.
Daryl credits Roger Bacon with shaping both his career path and his personal growth. The school’s smaller class sizes allowed him to form strong relationships with teachers who encouraged him to excel in math and science, ultimately steering him toward engineering. Courses like Engineering I and II, along with his involvement in the National Society for Black Engineers, sparked his passion for design and innovation. Beyond academics, Roger Bacon emphasized leadership, communication, and teamwork—skills that have been essential to his career in engineering. “The environment built my confidence and taught me how to take initiative,” he reflects, “qualities that continue to guide me in both my career and personal life.”
Football played a major role in shaping Daryl’s character. The discipline of daily practices, workouts, and film sessions instilled a strong work ethic that continues to define him. The lessons of trust, accountability, and communication translated seamlessly into his professional career. Just as importantly, the sense of community and brotherhood forged with teammates and coaches has remained a lasting influence.
One of Daryl’s most meaningful memories is from KAIROS, where he learned the value of vulnerability and self-awareness. Although it was uncomfortable at first to share personal experiences, it ultimately deepened his connections with others and taught him to reflect on his own journey. “Now as an adult, I see how those same skills shape my relationships, career, and decision-making,” he shares. The experience instilled in him a commitment to authenticity and building trust in all areas of life.
Daryl offers this advice to today’s students and recent graduates:
Take advantage of your resources and leadership opportunities
Remember that high school is just the beginning
Focus on discovering your strengths, passions, and values
Don’t be afraid to fail—setbacks are lessons for bigger opportunities
Prioritize your mental health
The values of accountability, teamwork, and respect that Daryl experienced at Roger Bacon continue to shape his approach to challenges in his career. “Being part of a great community meant showing up not just for myself, but for others—even when things were difficult,” he says. That mindset has carried into his work, where patience, collaboration, and resilience are essential to overcoming obstacles.
Since graduating from Roger Bacon, Daryl’s journey has been one of steady growth. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Eastern Michigan University and has built his entire career in manufacturing while also pursuing his MBA to strengthen his leadership and business skills. Alongside his professional accomplishments, he has built a fulfilling personal life—buying a home, getting married, and raising a family.
Daryl and his wife, Sessaley, are the proud parents of two daughters, Nailah and Naomi. “Family has been the greatest joy of my life,” he says, balancing a demanding career with a strong commitment to being present as a husband and father.
Daryl Taylor’s story reflects the enduring power of a Roger Bacon education: discipline, confidence, leadership, and community values that continue to shape his journey as both a professional and a family man.
