St. Clare Society Helps Student Pursue Passion for Law at Georgetown University

Thanks to the generosity of the St. Clare Society, Roger Bacon High School junior Sofia Gill recently participated in the National Youth Leadership Forum: Law & CSI at Georgetown University, where she spent a week immersed in hands-on experiences exploring careers in law, criminal justice, and forensic science.

Hosted by Envision, the prestigious program gives students the opportunity to step into the roles of attorneys, investigators, and forensic professionals through interactive simulations, crime scene investigations, and courtroom experiences. Participants also learn from judges, attorneys, FBI professionals, CSI experts, and other leaders in the legal field.

For Sofia, the experience exceeded every expectation.

"Georgetown and DC were amazing!" Sofia shared following the program. "What a life-changing experience. The week consisted of several law classes, CSI simulations, crime scene investigations, and multiple speakers from CSI, the FBI, and many other law-related occupations. We even went to George Mason University and conducted crime scene work there."

Throughout the week, Sofia had the opportunity to take on several key roles during the program's simulations, serving as both a defendant during a Supreme Court simulation and a prosecutor in a mock trial.

"I cross-examined our main suspect and provided crucial evidence that ended up winning the trial!" she said. "This was genuinely the absolute best experience I've had. I've learned so many things, this was such an incredible real-world experience, and it truly fueled my passion for law. It also gave me so much knowledge and experience with CSI and crime scene investigations. Thank you so much for working to send me here. I am forever grateful!"
