Sophomore Service Day Connects Students to Real-World Issues

Roger Bacon High School sophomores recently took part in their annual Sophomore Service Day, spending the day in communities across the city learning about important social justice issues and putting their faith into action through service.

Students visited local organizations focused on homelessness, immigration, mental health and addiction, and poverty. At each location, they learned from community leaders and service providers about the challenges people face and the work being done to support them. Afterward, students participated in service activities connected to each issue, helping meet real needs while gaining a deeper understanding of the people behind the statistics.

Sophomore Service Day reflects Roger Bacon’s Franciscan commitment to forming students who not only learn about the world, but also work to improve it. Through experiences like this, students see firsthand that service is an essential part of living out their faith and caring for others.

Programs like this, supported through Roger Bacon’s Community Outreach efforts, continue to provide meaningful opportunities for students to grow in compassion, awareness, and responsibility.
