San Juan Bautista Pilgrims Depart for California!

Roger Bacon High School is proud to share that our fourth cohort of juniors has departed for the San Juan Bautista Pilgrimage, an all-expenses-paid pilgrimage through the Franciscan missions of California.

This unique pilgrimage invites students to follow in the footsteps of St. Junípero Serra, often referred to as the “Apostle of California,” whose missionary work played a significant role in bringing the Catholic faith to the West Coast. Throughout the trip, students will visit historic mission sites including Mission San Juan Bautista, as well as missions in Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and San Francisco.

Rooted in the Franciscan tradition, this pilgrimage offers students the opportunity to engage with the rich history, culture, and faith that shaped early California. These mission sites stand as important historical and cultural landmarks, highlighting the intersection of Spanish missionary efforts and Native American communities.

Students selected for this experience are current Roger Bacon juniors who demonstrate strong academic and behavioral standing, active involvement in the school community, and a commitment to the Franciscan values upon which the school was founded. As with many Roger Bacon experiences, this pilgrimage is designed not only to educate, but to form students as leaders grounded in faith, service, and purpose.
