Roger Bacon High School proudly congratulates senior Joseph Coleman on earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in the Boy Scouts of America program.
Joseph began his scouting journey as a kindergartner with the St. Ignatius Cub Scouts before continuing with St. Ignatius Troop 850. Throughout his years in scouting, he embraced opportunities for adventure, leadership, and service. Some of his favorite experiences included camping, hiking, rock climbing, and backpacking, while also developing practical skills such as welding and metal working. Joseph even had the unique opportunity to fly a plane through scouting experiences.
Among his most memorable High Adventure trips were white water rafting in West Virginia and canoeing and hiking through Lake Superior National Forest in Minnesota.
Service to others has also been a major part of Joseph’s scouting journey. Over the years, he has volunteered in numerous ways, including helping set up and tear down the St. Ignatius Parish Festival each summer, clearing park trails, and assisting at a St. Vincent de Paul store.
For his Eagle Scout project, Joseph built 239 wooden crosses for the St. Ignatius Respect Life Committee. The crosses replaced others that had become damaged over time and are displayed annually by the parish as a reminder of the number of babies aborted in the United States each day. With the help of fellow Scouts and family members, Joseph designed, cut, sanded, primed, painted, and assembled each cross for the project.
Joseph officially earned the rank of Eagle Scout on January 5, 2026 — a tremendous accomplishment that reflects years of dedication, leadership, and service.
Congratulations, Joseph, on this incredible achievement! Roger Bacon High School is proud of all you have accomplished both in and out of the classroom.
