A group of Roger Bacon High School students and chaperones departed on June 2 for a week-long mission trip to Negril, Jamaica, where they will put their faith into action through service and community outreach.
Eight students, accompanied by teachers Kate Stuart-Neal and Bridget Douglas, along with Fr. Jim Bok, will spend the week working alongside Fr. Colin King and local Franciscans to serve the people of the Negril area. Their efforts will support communities that are continuing to recover from the effects of Hurricane Melissa, which impacted the region last fall.
Throughout the week, the group will participate in a variety of service projects while also building relationships with local residents and experiencing the Franciscan spirit of humility, compassion, and service.
Mission trips like this provide students with the opportunity to grow in faith, broaden their perspectives, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The experience also reflects Roger Bacon's commitment to forming young men and women who serve their communities with generosity and care.
The Roger Bacon community asks for prayers for the team's safe travels, successful service efforts, and transformative experiences during their time in Jamaica.
