On Friday, May 31, Roger Bacon High School has its 2024 Graduation Ceremony. During the ceremony, Roger Bacon President, Mr. Steve Schad surprised an honored Mr. Joseph Lautz with an honorary diploma.
Mr. Lautz attended Roger Bacon for 2 years before leaving to enter into the Navy in 1948. Joe served in the Navy until 1952 where he then settled into civilian life with his wife and family. He had met his wife Doreen in England while serving and after she joined him in the US, they were married for 65 years until she passed away. He had a successful career at HH Meyer for 34 years until his retirement.
Mr. Lautz was attending the graduation ceremony because his great-granddaughter Kait was graduating as a member of the Class of 2024. Prior to the presentation of diplomas, Mr. Schad ensured that Mr. Lautz was aware that "Once a Spartan, always a Spartan." Mr Lautz was then presented with an honorary diploma and honored as a special member of the Class of 2024. The entirety of the Roger Bacon community thanks Mr. Lautz for her service and congratulates him on this honor!
