Last Friday, Roger Bacon High School proudly honored the men and women who have served our country during our annual Veterans Day Breakfast & Assembly. Over 100 veterans representing every branch of the United States Armed Forces joined us this morning alongside our entire student body.
We were especially humbled and honored to welcome two World War II Veterans, classmates from the Roger Bacon Class of 1943: John Roy Nimeskern, United States Navy (turned 100 in August) Paul Blom, United States Navy (will be 100 in January). Their presence was a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and legacy that spans generations of Spartans. Click here to watch a WCPO interview with John Nimeskern '43.
Our assembly concluded in a moving moment of unity, as our entire school community joined in singing Taps, led by Arnie Siegmund ’63 and Mark Zlatic ’27 (click here to watch). To all veterans — thank you. Your service, your example, and your continued commitment to our nation inspire us today and always.
Roger Bacon High School is closed on November 11th in observance of Veterans Day. We pause with gratitude for the men and women who have served our country — protecting our freedoms, our communities, and one another.
