Roger Bacon High School Provides Update on Bron Bacevich Stadium

On Thursday, August 12, 2026, the below announcement was sent out to the Roger Bacon families:

Dear Parents and Friends:

History has a way of repeating itself.

Ten years ago, following what was then described as a 100-year rain event, the combined storm and sewer line beneath the football/soccer field at Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium overflowed, contaminating the field. Roger Bacon responded by completely replacing the turf. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of The Motz Group, the entire replacement was completed in a remarkable 18 days.

Unfortunately, following Tuesday’s severe storm, which brought significant rainfall and damage throughout the Cincinnati area, the storm sewer at the stadium overflowed once again, resulting in contamination of the field.

The safety of our students and athletes is our highest priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we have suspended all use of the stadium field until the turf can be replaced. Once again, we will call on The Motz Group to perform another “miracle.”

Until the replacement is complete, the stadium field will not be used for practices or games. We understand the inconvenience this will cause our student-athletes, families, coaches, and friends, and we greatly appreciate your patience and flexibility.

While this is certainly an unexpected challenge, there is good news ahead: when the project is complete, our athletes will have a new turf field that provides a safe, high-quality playing surface for years to come.

Our goal is to have the new turf installed and the stadium ready for use in time for our Homecoming game on October 9th. We will work diligently toward that goal and keep our community informed as the project progresses. Please keep us in your prayers.
