Roger Bacon High School is proud to announce the hiring of Katie Durstock as the school’s next Dean of Academics.
Durstock brings more than a decade of experience in Catholic and public education, with a proven record of academic leadership, curriculum development, faculty growth, and student success. Most recently, she served as Principal of Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Cincinnati, where she led a PreK-8 community of more than 600 students and 78 faculty and staff members.
In her new role at Roger Bacon, Durstock will provide strategic leadership for the school’s academic programs, oversee curriculum and instructional excellence, support faculty development, and help ensure that Roger Bacon continues its tradition of preparing students for college and lives of faith, purpose, and service.
Durstock also previously served as Assistant Principal at Guardian Angels School and as a middle school language arts teacher and grade-level chair in South Carolina. She holds two master’s degrees—one in Educational Leadership from The Citadel Graduate College and another in Secondary Education from Xavier University.
Durstock shared her enthusiasm for joining the Roger Bacon community. “I am energized by the possibility of serving Roger Bacon High School as a collaborative member of its leadership team—partnering with faculty, students, and families to strengthen academic programs while advancing the school’s Catholic mission,” she said.
Roger Bacon Principal Tim McCoy said the school is excited to welcome Durstock to campus.
“With her background as a Catholic school principal, Katie understands how to build systems that support both academic rigor and student growth. She is a thoughtful, mission-driven leader, and we are excited about the direction she will help lead our academic program in the years ahead.”
Durstock’s experience includes leading accreditation processes, implementing innovative assessment systems, and using student performance data to drive measurable academic growth. She has also developed strong support systems focused on the whole child, working closely with counselors, intervention specialists, and teachers to ensure students receive the resources they need to thrive.
Roger Bacon High School looks forward to the knowledge, passion, and faith-filled leadership Durstock will bring as she begins this important new role.
