Roger Bacon High School proudly celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026 on Friday, May 29, honoring a group of students whose leadership, service, and accomplishments have left a lasting impact on the school community.
In his commencement address, Principal Tim McCoy ’02 reflected on the unique connection he shares with the class, noting that the graduates arrived as freshmen during his first year as principal.
"This class did not simply pass through Roger Bacon—you transformed it," McCoy said.
Throughout their four years, the Class of 2026 embodied Roger Bacon's Franciscan values through service and leadership. The class completed 4,691 total service hours, creating an estimated community impact of more than $127,000, while many students served on Spiritual Life teams, Community Outreach, God Squad, and Spartan Leader.
The graduates also excelled in the classroom, the arts, and athletics. The class earned nearly $3 million in scholarships, with 91% of graduates continuing their education at colleges and universities. 20% of those students are headed out of state for college. They helped grow participation in Roger Bacon's fine arts programs, while 81 seniors competed in athletics this year, producing numerous all-conference, all-city, and all-district honorees.
Beyond the impressive accomplishments, McCoy praised the class for helping shape the culture and momentum that continues to drive Roger Bacon forward.
"You were never simply passing through Roger Bacon," he told graduates. "You were building it as you went."
As the newest members of the Roger Bacon alumni family, the Class of 2026 leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, creativity, and Spartan pride.
Congratulations, Class of 2026. Hail Spartans!
