Roger Bacon High School is excited to announce the hiring of alumni Kylee Sheppard ’21 and Trey Hennekes ’17 as the school’s first-ever Athletic Performance Instructors, newly created positions designed to elevate the development of Spartan student-athletes both in and out of competition.
The new Athletic Performance program will provide Roger Bacon student-athletes with year-round instruction focused on strength, speed, mobility, nutrition, recovery, injury prevention, and overall athletic development. The course will work closely with coaches and the athletic department to support the growth of Spartan athletes across all sports.
Principal Tim McCoy ’02 shared his excitement about the addition of Kylee and Trey to the staff.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Kylee and Trey back to Roger Bacon as our new Athletic Performance Instructors,” he said. “As decorated alumni who understand what it means to wear the Spartan uniform, they bring not only elite experience, but also a deep passion for developing the next generation. This innovative course is a game-changer for our athletic program, focusing on strength training, speed and agility, nutrition, and mental performance. Their leadership will elevate our student-athletes and push Roger Bacon athletics to a premier level.”
Hennekes, a 2017 Roger Bacon graduate, already serves the school in several athletic leadership roles, including Football Offensive Coordinator and previously as the Athletic Administrative Assistant. A graduate of Thomas More University, where he competed in both football and track and field, Hennekes earned a degree in Sports Entertainment Marketing. In anticipation of the new role, Hennekes shared his vision for building “a championship culture” within Roger Bacon Athletics through sports-specific training programs.
Sheppard, a 2021 Roger Bacon graduate, recently completed an outstanding collegiate basketball career at Providence College, where she was a four-year NCAA Division I student-athlete and team captain. She earned a degree in Psychology while receiving numerous honors, including Big East All-Freshman Team recognition, multiple Big East All-Academic Team selections, and induction into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. Beyond athletics, Sheppard has gained coaching and mentorship experience through basketball camps, youth skills training, and work with student-athlete mental health research initiatives. Her leadership, discipline, and commitment to community engagement make her a strong addition to the new program.
The Athletic Performance course is part of Roger Bacon’s continued commitment to providing student-athletes with opportunities for growth, preparation, and success at the highest level. The program will emphasize not only athletic excellence, but also accountability, leadership, and lifelong healthy habits.
Roger Bacon is excited to see the impact Sheppard and Hennekes will have on the future of Spartan Athletics.
