Roger Bacon Ethics Bowl Teams Shine at Regional Competition

Three Roger Bacon High School Ethics Bowl teams showcased their critical thinking and collaborative skills at the Greater Cincinnati Regional High School Ethics Bowl competition, hosted by the University of Cincinnati this past weekend.

The Spartans competed against 32 teams representing 19 schools from across the region. Roger Bacon’s younger teams gained valuable experience while Team #1 delivered an impressive performance that carried the Spartans deep into the tournament.

Team #2 finished with a 1-2 record, earning a notable victory against Spencer School for the Gifted. Team #3 posted a 1-1-1 record, highlighted by a strong win over Dater High School. Both teams are composed primarily of freshmen and sophomores, making this competition an important opportunity to gain experience and continue building a strong foundation for future success.

Roger Bacon Team #1 delivered a standout performance, finishing 2-1 in Saturday’s rounds to secure a place in the prestigious “Great 8” competition on Sunday. The Spartans continued their strong showing by defeating Beechwood High School in an exciting matchup, advancing to the semifinals against Dublin Jerome. After a closely contested round, the team concluded their tournament run in the Final Four — an outstanding accomplishment.

Team #1 was comprised of speakers Makenna Stewart '27, Maggie McCormick '27, Joe Zlatic '27, Mark Zlatic '27, and Karis Stoxen '27, along with support team members Elizabeth Strouble '27, Nathan Siciliano '27, Maya Fertick '27, and Conor Morio '27.

Roger Bacon congratulates all students who participated for representing the school with excellence, professionalism, and thoughtful dialogue throughout the competition.
