The Roger Bacon High School community gathered for a special liturgy celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, beginning a day of celebration honoring the Franciscan tradition that serves as the foundation of the school’s mission.
This year’s celebration carries special significance as the Franciscan community marks 800 years since the death of St. Francis of Assisi. Eight centuries later, his example of humility, service, compassion, and care for all creation continues to inspire the Roger Bacon community and its commitment to living out the Franciscan charism.
At the conclusion of Mass, the school recognized and thanked the four Franciscan Friars who serve on staff at Roger Bacon. The Friars were honored for their dedication to the school, their commitment to the students they serve, and the powerful example they provide through their daily witness to the Franciscan way of life.
Their presence is a treasured part of the Roger Bacon community, helping students and colleagues alike grow in faith and embrace the values at the heart of the school’s Franciscan identity.
As the community celebrates the legacy of St. Francis, Roger Bacon remains committed to following his example by fostering a spirit of peace, service, and fellowship. Through the continued witness of its Friars, faculty, staff, and students, the school strives to be good soil where faith takes root and the Franciscan mission flourishes for generations to come.
