Roger Bacon High School is proud to celebrate the remarkable accomplishment of Intervention Specialist Robyn Blackwell, who delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon.
Blackwell completed the marathon with a time of 3:16, placing 31st out of 2,294 women—good for the top 1.3%—and 308th overall out of 6,333 runners, finishing in the top 5% of all participants. Her impressive time also earned her qualification for the prestigious Boston Marathon, surpassing the 3:25 standard for her age group.
Beyond the numbers, Blackwell’s race carried a deeper meaning. She ran in a green kit to honor her niece who has cerebral palsy, while also raising awareness for mental health—causes close to her heart.
Her journey to the starting line makes the achievement even more powerful. Just last year, Blackwell was diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD), a rare autoimmune condition that left her in debilitating pain. At times, even simple daily tasks required assistance. Refusing to be defined by her diagnosis, she committed herself to rebuilding both her physical and mental strength.
Despite a shortened and challenging training cycle—cut from 12 weeks to just eight due to illness, an MCTD flare-up, and winter weather—Blackwell persevered with determination and focus.
Her story is one of resilience, purpose, and the power of mindset. As she prepares for the Boston Marathon, Blackwell continues to inspire the Roger Bacon community and beyond, proving that obstacles do not define us—our response to them does.
