RB Baseball Competes at "Big League Weekend" at Great American Ballpark

On May 11th, Roger Bacon played against Division I's Springboro at Great American Ballpark. Twenty-three Spartans had an opportunity to play in the spirited contest in a great venue. Roger Bacon eventually fell 5-4 in 8 innings.

The game was part of “Big League Weekend” – the culminating event in the 13th annual Skyline Chili Reds Futures High School Showcase presented by Cincinnati Children’s Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics. The showcase featured 98 high school baseball and softball teams from Greater Cincinnati and Dayton playing 49 games from April 1st to May 13th. The showcase concluded with “Big League Weekend” during which ten teams played at Great American Ball Park.

“This event with all these schools and all those teams and all the history: This is something that not only the Reds need, but this is something our industry needs,” said Charley Frank, director of the Reds Community Fund. “This is one of the most important things that we’re fortunate enough to be part of.”

It was a great experience for the team and fans. The Spartans look forward to earning back their win as they plan to take part in the showcase for future years as well!
