Joey McCabe '27 Earns Eagle Scout Ranking

Roger Bacon High School congratulates junior Joey McCabe ’27 on earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Scouting.

Joey began his Scouting journey in 2015 as a Cub Scout with St. Vivian’s Troop 682 before moving to Finneytown’s Cub Scout Troop 390 in 2018. Along the way, he participated in a variety of activities and competitions, including the Raingutter Regatta and Pinewood Derby.

In the spring of 2020, Joey crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 857, where he continued building leadership skills and embracing adventure through numerous campouts and experiences. His Scouting activities have included ziplining, horsemanship, railroading, climbing the Via Ferrata, wild caving, shooting sports, skiing and community service projects.

For his Eagle Scout project, Joey planned and led the construction of an informational kiosk for Cardinal Land Conservancy’s Westmark Woods Nature Preserve on Compton Road. The preserve stretches from Compton Road to the area behind St. Bartholomew property and serves as an important local natural space for the community.

In addition to earning the Eagle Scout rank, Joey was awarded four additional Eagle Palms after completing 20 merit badges beyond the requirements for Eagle Scout.

Joey plans to continue his Scouting adventures this summer through a Philmont trek in New Mexico and a canoeing expedition in Michigan.

Roger Bacon High School is proud of Joey’s dedication, leadership and commitment to service, and congratulates him on this outstanding accomplishment.
