Roger Bacon's annual recognition of student excellence continues as today we recognize two students for their outstanding achievement in both STEM and Science.
Mr. Paul “Doc” Meyer served Roger Bacon for 42 years, during which he taught 26 different subjects including History, English, Economics, and numerous business subjects. He was a staunch supporter of the traditional values and the Franciscan education provided at Roger Bacon. As Chairman of the business Department, Doc Meyer devoted himself to motivating his students to do well and to succeed. In memory of him, a scholarship is presented to a student who has excelled in STEM classes, works hard, and has a positive attitude.
The 2023 Paul “Doc” Meyer Scholarship is presented to Maya DeStazio.
Kathy and Thomas Turan, parents of former Roger Bacon students, established a scholarship to encourage science minded students and promote science education. The scholarship is awarded to students that show a strong capability and passion for the sciences. The 2023 Turan Family Scholarship is presented to Camila Valle Flores.
Congrats to Maya and Camilia. Forward to Greater Things!
