Roger Bacon High School was blessed to welcome back a familiar face this week as Fr. Christopher Iwancio, OFM Cap., visited campus to meet with students preparing for next month’s pilgrimages.
Fr. Christopher, who serves with Franciscan Pilgrimage Programs, has played an integral role in guiding and supporting Roger Bacon students on both the California and Assisi pilgrimages. Through his leadership and presence, countless Spartans have experienced the richness of the Franciscan tradition while deepening their faith in meaningful and transformative ways.
During his visit, Fr. Christopher spent time with this year’s pilgrims, helping them spiritually prepare for their journeys ahead. He shared insights about the significance of pilgrimage, encouraged students to remain open to how God may work in their hearts during their travels, and reminded them that pilgrimage is not simply a trip, but a sacred opportunity for encounter, reflection, and growth.
The California and Assisi pilgrimages are powerful expressions of Roger Bacon’s Franciscan identity, inviting students to step outside their comfort zones and walk in the footsteps of St. Francis and St. Clare. Experiences like these strengthen students’ faith, build community, and create lasting memories rooted in service and prayer.
As our pilgrims prepare to depart next month, we are grateful for Fr. Christopher’s continued partnership and spiritual guidance. Please keep our students and chaperones in your prayers as they get ready to embark on these life-changing journeys.
