Cincy Shakes Visits Campus and Takes the Stage

Roger Bacon High School recently welcomed the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company to campus as part of the company’s Traveling Education Series, giving students the opportunity to experience live, professional theater right in the school’s auditorium.

Seniors were immersed in the intensity and ambition of Macbeth, while freshmen experienced the timeless romance and tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Through dynamic performances and engaging storytelling, the actors brought Shakespeare’s language to life, helping students connect classroom learning to the stage in a powerful way.

The Traveling Education Series is designed to make Shakespeare accessible and engaging for students, and the performances at Roger Bacon did just that. With minimal sets but maximum energy, the actors captured students’ attention and highlighted the enduring relevance of the Bard’s themes — ambition, loyalty, love, fate, and the consequences of our choices.

In addition to the performances, students had the opportunity to interact with the actors, deepening their understanding of the plays and the craft of performance. Seeing Shakespeare performed live offered a new perspective and enriched the students’ appreciation for literature and the arts.

Experiences like this reflect Roger Bacon’s commitment to providing meaningful educational opportunities that inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
