RBHS SPARTAN GAMEDAY!:

• You’re invited to RBHS SPARTAN GAMEDAY – The Return to the Bron!

o Roger Bacon High School invites local grade school families, Spartan families, alumni and Friends to RBHS Spartan Gameday on Friday, September 25th at Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium!

o Join us for the reopening of our field at Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium and a night of family fun, including:

o White Out – wear white!

o Spartan Village Tailgate: will take place in our East Parking Lot (Behind school) starting at 5:00 p.m. with a special performance from RB3.

• Student Senate is hosting a mixer in the cafeteria after the Home Football Game, until 10:30pm. Come hang out and get to know your classmates!

• The cost will be $1 and be sure to bring your student ID.

• Admission is limited to Roger Bacon freshmen only. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

RB3 Fundraiser Performance at FRETBOARD

•

Join the Roger Bacon Rhythm and Blues Rock Band (RB3) on Saturday, October 3rd at Fretboard-Factory 52 Norwood for a fundraiser performance for the RB Fine Arts.

•

All are welcome to this OPEN event! A portion of every drink purchase will support our Fine Arts Department - Come hear some rockin' tunes, and show your support to the RB Fine Arts by seeing RB3 at Fretboard at Factory 52 Norwood on Saturday Oct 3rd from 5-8pm. Bacon Bronco Raffle:

• The 2026 Bacon Bronco Raffle is underway! As a reminder, each student is challenged to sell $200 worth of chances. The more they sell, the more cash incentives they can earn!

o Our schoolwide goal is $150,000—and if we reach it, students will receive an extra day off school on December 1. We are off to a great start!

Pilgrimages Update:

Senior Assisi Scholars: You should be securing your passports for the Assisi Pilgrimage in the spring. Mrs. Becker will be sending paperwork out to be completed sometime next week. Be sure to continue checking our Spartanlink group for information pertaining to the pilgrimage!

•

There is a mandatory scholar & parent meeting on November 17 6-7:30pm in ITC. Mark your calendars now!

•

San Juan Pilgrimage: Calling all JUNIORS who are NOT in the Assisi Scholar Program. There is an opportunity for you to apply to take part in a pilgrimage (all expenses paid) to San Juan Bautista Mission in California!

•

Applications are available. You can pick them up from your theology teacher or outside of the Spiritual Life Office. Be on the lookout for future announcements.

IHL UPDATE:

o

Seniors: You should be uploading artifacts to your IHL digital portfolio. If you are having trouble with this or have questions, see Mrs. Becker in new SLO location.

o

Sophomores: You will have an “at home” conference with your parents in the spring. Make sure to stay on top of your uploading of artifacts. This will help you with the reflection packet later!

o

Freshmen: Change to plan: IHL will be introduced during Freshman Communities. Senior leaders are presenting this information to you during Freshman Communities on 9-17, during flex; mandatory for all freshmen. Mrs. Becker will be present during this presentation, as well.

o Approximately 50 local/regional colleges and universities will be in attendance, giving students the opportunity to explore a variety of postsecondary options in one convenient location.

• AP Testing

o Ms. Smith sent an email last week with information about AP testing & AP testing fees. Please be sure to read the email- including the AP exam schedule.

o AP exams are $99 per exam. Any students taking more than 2 AP exams will pay $198.

o Fees are due no later than October 16, 2026. You may pay with a check made out to Roger Bacon High School, pay with cash in person to the Business Office, or call the Business Office to make a credit card payment.

o Payment can also be mailed to the attention of the Business Office.

• Companions on a Journey

o Student Services hosts Companions on a Journey for a grief and loss group once a month. The group is held on the first Tuesday of every month. This is a place where students can work through complex feelings about the loss of someone they know. It doesn’t have to be a close relationship for it to have an impact on our students. A consent form must be filled out by every student each year to participate. https://form.jotform.com/25190... Ethics Bowl:

• Do you have strong feelings about the Pope offering guidance on issues like AI? Do you believe older folks should not have to pay property taxes since they have paid taxes all their lives? Do you wonder if randomly selecting our elected officials might work better than our current system of elections? Do you think it’s wrong to use genetic engineering to pick the best attributes of all of us to create the best child possible?

If you said yes to any of these things or simply looking to get involved at Roger Bacon, then Ethics Bowl may be for you. Ethics Bowl is an extracurricular at Roger Bacon, and is an opportunity to develop rationales and arguments why something may be ethical or not and then participating in an actual competition in January against other schools. It is a little like a debate team, but focuses more on conversation. If you are interested in learning more about Ethics Bowl please come to the all- call in the ITC on Monday, September 28th to learn how to get involved. If you are unable to come to the all call please email Mr. Zlatic for more information. Spanish Club:

• Do you like Birria Nachos? Mexican Food? Hispanic Culture? Then, you are invited to the Spanish Club! Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 7 from 3:00-4:00pm in room 28.

• For our first Spanish Club meeting, we will be tasting a lot of Hispanic snacks and rating them. Please RSVP by Wednesday, September 30 before the school day ends by emailing Cheyenne Catron so we make sure that we have enough snacks for everybody! Girls Basketball Golf Outing:

• The 2nd Annual Roger Bacon Girls Basketball Golf Outing will be held on Saturday, October 17th at Avon Fields Golf Course. Help support the Spartan Girls Basketball Program while enjoying a fun day on the course!

The boys’ varsity golf team travels to Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club to compete in the Liberty Invitational. The shotgun start is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.

Winter Sports Meet the Team Night – Monday, November 16th :

•

All student-athletes planning to participate in a winter sport should save the date!

•

Our Winter Sports Meet the Team Night for athletes and their parents is scheduled for Monday, November 16, at 6:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a general meeting in the Fogarty Gymnasium, where Mr. Rossi and Coach Neal will provide a brief presentation. Following the presentation, each winter sport team will meet separately, giving athletes and parents an opportunity to connect with their program's head coach and staff.
