Kylee Sheppard

Class of 2021

For anyone who follows Roger Bacon Girls’ Basketball, Kylee Sheppard ‘21 is a familiar face. The junior plays Point Guard for the Lady Spartans and has been a dominant force on the court so far this year. Kylee has been playing basketball as long as she can remember, both at school and for her AAU team. According to Kylee, the best part about playing basketball at RB is the close bond she has with her teammates. Kylee said, “Everybody on the team has really good chemistry. We’re great teammates, and also really good friends. It makes practicing and playing with all of them really fun.”

Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach Joe Finnegan nominated Kylee for Face of RB. Coach Finnegan praised Kylee’s leadership and hard work, both on the basketball court and in the classroom. He said, “Kylee is our team leader in Basketball─she shows incredible leadership to both her teammates and the younger players! She is a great student as well. Kylee is one of those students who excels at at all she does!” Kylee’s other coaches and teammates agree─she is a great person to be around because she works not just for herself, but for the success of her team.

When it comes to academics, Kylee works hard in all her classes. Her favorite teacher is Doc (Dr. Paul Wittekind) because of his humor and willingness to help students. Kylee said, “Doc keeps classes interesting. Even though he has high expectations and puts a lot on our plate, he helps us out in any way he can. It’s also funny when someone tries to fall asleep in his class... because Doc will wake them up for sure!”

Kylee’s teachers had many kind words to say about her work ethic and dedication in the classroom and beyond. Math teacher Sarah Bergmann said, “Kylee always comes to school with a positive attitude and ready to learn. She knows when to work and when to have fun. Not only does she excel in the classroom, but also on the basketball court. She is a kind person towards her peers and teachers, as well as a leader for her classmates to look up to.” Art teacher Kelly Reinbach added, “Kylee is the epitome of the word relentless. Whether it’s on a sports field or in an art class, no matter what obstacles she comes up against, she presses on and perseveres. This is the sound marksmanship of a powerful young woman who will grow up to be relentless in all of her endeavors. A combination of poise and fierce determination, Kylee is an example of quiet strength.”

Kylee is looking forward to Christmas Break. “I think I’m extra-excited for Christmas this year,” Kylee said. “Basketball will keep me busy, but it will be fun to have time to spend with friends and family.” She has high hopes for the rest of the basketball season, as well. As the team continues to learn, grow together, and improve their skills, Kylee believes they can have one of their strongest seasons ever.

Roger Bacon is made up of many faces, different faces. We hope to showcase as wide a range of our Spartans as possible. If you would like to nominate a Spartan, past or present, to be featured as a Face of RB, please click here.
