Spirit Shop Hours

The Spirit Shop will be open in August as follows:

  • August 10-11 and 13-14: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (noon)
  • August 15th (Saturday): 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (noon)

Face Coverings

When Roger Bacon starts school on August 26th, all students, faculty, and staff will be required to have a face covering.

  • Roger Bacon will provide every student with a cloth face mask to begin the school year. These are white with the RB logo. The same face mask will be available in the Spirit Shop for $5.
  • Any face covering must be a solid color. No designs, wording, or pictures are allowed outside of a RB logo.
  • Face coverings can be bought or made at home. Please ensure whatever face covering is used, that it:
    • fits snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
    • completely covers the nose and mouth
    • is secured with ties or ear loops
    • includes multiple layers of fabric- allows for breathing without restriction
    • can be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape
  • While there are many sources for face coverings, they are available at the following locations:
    • A variety of local stores: Target, Old Navy, etc.
    • www.schoolbelles.com. Click on the “General Catalog” option on the left side. Pick a gender and click “Shop.” Select “School Supplies” from the tiles on the page – it is the last one in the bottom row.
  • Simple cloth face coverings can be made at home. Instructions can be found on the CDC website.

Spirit Wear Donations

We are accepting donations of clean and gently used RB spirit wear, polos, sweatshirts, or skirts for our Roger Bacon SVDP Thrift Store. Items can be dropped off at the main office. We do not take pants or shorts. Please contact Ms. Julie Vehorn at jvehorn@rogerbacon.org with any questions. Thank you for your support!

Calling all Spartans who went on to play at the next level!

We are adding a new video display to the Fogarty Center lobby that will showcase our alumni that played at the collegiate/professional level. You may remember the old photo frames in the basement of Fogarty – this will replace those. We need your help to gather data!

If you played any sport at the next level after your career at RB, please send the following to our Assistant Athletic Director, Brandon Spaeth, at bspaeth@rogerbacon.org:

Photo of you in your collegiate/professional uniform (head shot/action photo)

  1. Full name
  2. Sport(s)
  3. College/Professional Team
  4. Years played
  5. Graduation Year (from Roger Bacon)

If you have any family members that this applies to – please feel free to send that information as well!

School Year Start-up Information

Roger Bacon will be starting school with students on campus, 5-days per week. Students can choose between either a 5-day on campus model or a remote model. If the remote option is chosen, please notify our Director of Academics, Julie Vehorn, at jvehorn@rogerbacon.org no later than Wednesday, August 12th. Information on policies and expectations regarding COVID-19 and remote learning are on our website.

Guidance Department

Class of 2021: While many colleges are not yet offering in-person visits, they have developed very informative and worthwhile “virtual” visits for students. Summer is a great time to check these out! They are usually easy to access from the school’s website. This is also a good time to review the College Planning Handbook you received in your RB bag when you dropped off your iPad. When the school year resumes in August, we will start working on Naviance and the Common App.

Spiritual Life

As we plan for your student’s senior year, we are excited to offer 3 opportunities for students to attend a Kairos Retreat. Because of attendance limitations and considerations for families who do not want their student to attend an overnight retreat, a senior retreat is not required for graduation this year. Additionally, Kairos retreat registration will be on a first come, first served basis. If demand exceeds available spots we will investigate further options to accommodate everyone. Also, unlike past years, fall athletes are eligible to attend the August retreat due to the limited number of Kairos spots. We offer three dates and registration will be done on a first come, first served basis. Please review the following dates and choose a date that works best with your schedule.

Kairos Dates for 2020-2021 School Year: August 10-12, 2020; October 7-9, 2020; February 3-5, 2021.

Community Outreach

Senior Service Experience. To provide a more concise understanding of the senior service experience, click here for the “2020-2021 Senior Service Packet.” This document provides the necessary information to understand the requirements and expectations. First, watch the YouTube video that walk you through many details, from ideas to registration. Then, consult the “frequently asked questions” sheet to provide you quick answers to typical questions. There is also a document about different places to serve in Cincinnati, which are divided into themes. Service is a element of our Franciscan school, where it is our motto to help young men and women grow “in holiness and learning” rooted in Jesus Christ.

From Our School Nurse…

Immunization Requirement for Senior Year. Ohio law requires all incoming 12th grade students to be vaccinated against meningococcal disease with 2 doses of the Meningococcal/MCV4 vaccine. One dose is due before entering 7th grade, the second before 12th grade. If the first dose was given on or after the 16th birthday, only 1 dose is required. Please call your student's physician to receive this immunization or to get an up to date copy of vaccine records for the school. Completed immunization documentation needs to be forwarded to the nurse's office. This can be sent to our school nurse via email at kherold@rogerbacon.org or via fax to 513-618-7051. If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Karin Herold, via email or leave a voice message 513-641-1300, ext 1140
