The Archdiocese of Cincinnati has waived the high school placement test this coming year for 8th grade students. You should be receiving notification from your local Catholic elementary school. The letter from the Archdiocese reads in part: "Due to the concerns of COVID-19 and the uncertainty of future restrictions placed upon our schools and communities by governing stakeholders, the 2020 high school entrance and placement test will be waived this year for current eighth graders and will not be offered...Scholarship criteria will be developed by each high school along with financial aid offerings..."
We are accepting donations of clean and gently used RB spirit wear, polos, sweatshirts, or skirts for our Roger Bacon SVDP Thrift Store. Items can be dropped off at the main office. We do not take pants or shorts. Please contact Ms. Julie Vehorn at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions. Thank you for your support!
The Roger Bacon Underwater Hockey Team is presently recruiting new team members for the 2020-2021 school year. All incoming freshmen and returning upperclassmen are invited to play underwater hockey. Students need to be able to swim, but they do not have to be an exceptional swimmer to play underwater hockey. Any student who is interested in playing is asked to email Dr. Wittekind at email@example.com . If parents or guardians have any questions, they can also email Dr. Wittekind. See you in the pool!
We are adding a new video display to the Fogarty Center lobby that will showcase our alumni that played at the collegiate/professional level. You may remember the old photo frames in the basement of Fogarty – this will replace those. We need your help to gather data!
If you played any sport at the next level after your career at RB, please send the following to our Assistant Athletic Director, Brandon Spaeth, at firstname.lastname@example.org:
If you have any family members that this applies to – please feel free to send that information as well!
Roger Bacon will be starting school with students on campus, 5-days per week. Students can choose between either a 5-day on campus model or a remote model. If the remote option is chosen, please notify Roger Bacon no later than Wednesday, August 12th. Further information will be provided the first week in August. Information on policies and expectations regarding COVID-19 are on our website.

Summer College Opportunities. Many colleges are offering summer opportunities for current sophomore and junior students. These summer programs give students the opportunity to get a taste of campus life and some offer college credit. These can also be found on the Guidance web page.
Class of 2021: While many colleges are not yet offering in-person visits, they have developed very informative and worthwhile “virtual” visits for students. Summer is a great time to check these out! They are usually easy to access from the school’s website. This is also a good time to review the College Planning Handbook you received in your RB bag when you dropped off your iPad. When the school year resumes in August, we will start working on Naviance and the Common App.
As we plan for your student’s senior year, we are excited to offer 3 opportunities for students to attend a Kairos Retreat. Because of attendance limitations and considerations for families who do not want their student to attend an overnight retreat, a senior retreat is not required for graduation this year. Additionally, Kairos retreat registration will be on a first come, first served basis. If demand exceeds available spots we will investigate further options to accommodate everyone. Also, unlike past years, fall athletes are eligible to attend the August retreat due to the limited number of Kairos spots. We offer three dates and registration will be done on a first come, first served basis. Please review the following dates and choose a date that works best with your schedule.
Kairos Dates for 2020-2021 School Year: August 10-12, 2020; October 7-9, 2020; February 3-5, 2021.
All seniors, whether they wish to attend Kairos or not, should fill out the following survey to indicate their preference: https://forms.gle/fyR7SqPJWqPUuUAe9.
Pax Sacks. If you know anyone who could use help with food for meals, RB Pax Sacks are here! Schedule a discrete pick up of non-perishable food, dairy and frozen meats. Email or call for details:Outreach@RogerBacon.org or 513-641-1300.
Senior Service Experience. To provide a more concise understanding of the senior service experience, click here for the “2020-2021 Senior Service Packet.” This document provides the necessary information to understand the requirements and expectations. First, watch the YouTube video that walk you through many details, from ideas to registration. Then, consult the “frequently asked questions” sheet to provide you quick answers to typical questions. There is also a document about different places to serve in Cincinnati, which are divided into themes. Service is a element of our Franciscan school, where it is our motto to help young men and women grow “in holiness and learning” rooted in Jesus Christ.
Immunization Requirement for Senior Year. Ohio law requires all incoming 12th grade students to be vaccinated against meningococcal disease with 2 doses of the Meningococcal/MCV4 vaccine. One dose is due before entering 7th grade, the second before 12th grade. If the first dose was given on or after the 16th birthday, only 1 dose is required. Please call your student's physician to receive this immunization or to get an up to date copy of vaccine records for the school. Completed immunization documentation needs to be forwarded to the nurse's office. This can be sent to our school nurse via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or via fax to 513-618-7051. If you have any questions, please contact our school nurse, Karin Herold, via email or leave a voice message 513-641-1300, ext 1140.
