Q. What is Roger Bacon High School looking for in applicants?
A. We are seeking individuals with strong character, intellectual curiosity, extracurricular talents, a range of backgrounds, interests and life experiences, and a desire to continue their Christian development in the Franciscan tradition.

Q. Does Roger Bacon offer financial aid or scholarships?
A. Yes, Roger Bacon offers both. For the 2008 -2009 school year, we awarded more than one million dollars in scholarships and financial assistance to approximately 60% of the student body. Financial aid is granted on the basis of individual need as determined by the PSAS form. We also offer four-year Academic and Leadership scholarships.

Q. How many students are in each class?
A. The student teacher ratio is 11:1 and the average class size is 14 students per class.

Q. How diverse is the student body?
A. Roger Bacon is committed to diversity of every kind. Our community is 67% Caucasian, 27% African American, 5% other races. 68% are Catholic, 57% Male and 43% female.

Q. What languages are offered?
A. Roger Bacon offers a full curriculum in French, Spanish and Latin.  Chinese will be offered in 2009.

Q. What opportunities are available in fine arts?
A. Fine arts classes are an integral part of our academic program and they are even better now in the renovated art rooms. Students may chose from Principles of Art, Art I, Art II, Art III, Art IV, AP Studio Art, Ceramics (semester / year), Photography (semester / year), Graphic Design, Choir, Band, Music Appreciation, Music Theory I, and Music Theory II.

Q. What sports are offered at Roger Bacon High School?
A. In the fall we offer girls’ volleyball, soccer, tennis and cross country as well as boys’ football, soccer, cross country and golf. In the winter we offer girls’ basketball, swimming, and bowling as well as boys’ basketball, wrestling, wrestlettes, swimming and bowling. In the spring we offer girls’ track and field and softball as well as boys’ baseball, track and field and tennis. Cheerleading is offered as a year long program.

Q. Is there an opportunity for community service?
A. Yes, one of the sparkling gems of Roger Bacon is the Community Outreach Program. Over the years, Roger Bacon’s outreach program has become a model for other area high schools, gaining recognition locally, state-wide and nationally for its accomplishments in the area of community service.  We have a number of programs that provide services in Cincinnati, like Bacon Buddies, Shantytown, and Urban Plunge, and we have international mission trips to places like Jamaica and Mexico.  Our Outreach and Campus Ministry reflect Roger Bacon’s motto, “In Holiness and Learning.”

Q. What percent of your graduating class attends a college or university?
A. Over 92 percent.

Q: What about the Advanced Placement / Honors Program?
A: Roger Bacon offers ten AP courses which provide students the opportunity to earn college credit.

Q: How many National Merit Scholars has Roger Bacon had in the past five years?
A: Roger Bacon has produced 27 National Merit Scholars the past five years with six in the Class of 2008.
