  • Parents - we want your input and feedback regarding this school year. Please take a few moments to complete our Parent Survey -- it should only take a couple minutes.   • Applications for the 2019/20 Community Outreach Board can be found next to the Spiritual Life Office and are due to Spiritual Life by Monday, May 13th.

  • AP exams continue this week through Thursday, May 16th. All exams will be held at Roger Bacon in the Multi-purpose Room at the Fitness Center. Students taking AP exams are not required to attend normal classes on the day of the exam. If a student is not able to leave school due to transportation issues, he/she will follow the normal schedule for afternoon classes after eating lunch. The AP exam schedule is as follows:
    • Monday, May 13th: Biology (8:00 am)
    • Tuesday, May 14th: Calculus AB (8:00 am)
    • Wednesday, May 15th: English Language and Composition (8:00 am)
    • Thursday, May 16th: World History (8:00 am) and Statistics (12:00 pm noon)
  • Senior Week.  The following activities are planned during Senior Week:
    • Monday - College/Next Year Plans T-Shirt Day / Donuts in morning provided by Senate
    • Tuesday - Ice cream during lunch provided by Senate
    • Wednesday - Grill-out provided by Athletic Department (Flex & 1st lunch)
    • Thursday - Senior T-Shirt Day / Senior Lock-In (9:00 pm in Fogarty Center)
    • Friday - Senior Assembly (1st period) / DISMISSAL AT 9:00 AM!   
  • Spring Concert. RB's Spring Concert features the RB Concert Band and welcomes guests from over 12 different local Catholic elementary schools. See each group perform individually, as well as a combined group band piece to close the night. Join us Wednesday, May 15th at 7:00 pm in the Fine Arts Center for this free event!

  • RB Music Awards.The Music Department hosts its annual Music Awards on Tuesday May 21st. We will recognize all students who participated in Concert Band, Chamber Choir, Drama Guild, and RB3 to celebrate the work throughout the school year. All students and families involved in one of these performing ensembles is invited to join, as we recognize each student’s involvement, awards for each main group, and special awards and personal recognition for our Senior members. Invitations and details are available through Mr. Montgomery or Ms. Murray.

Senior Graduation Reminders

  • You can now pre-order a 2019 Graduation DVD. You will be emailed an order form if you are interested in obtaining a copy, or an order form can be obtained by clicking here. Please submit your order by Wednesday, May 29th.  

  • In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, all financial obligations must be met by Wednesday, May 20, 2019.

  • Graduation Practice. All seniors must report for graduation practice on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 8:30 am in the RB cafeteria. Practice will conclude by approximately 10:30 am. The normal school dress code must be observed this day.  

  • Graduation Mass and Awards Ceremony. The graduation mass and awards ceremony will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 8:30 am. The mass and awards ceremony will take place in the Carol Dauwe Fine Arts Center. Each senior is welcome to bring two guests, usually parents.It is not appropriate for a graduate to bring a boyfriend or girlfriend. Guests should arrive at Roger Bacon no later than 8:20 am. Seniors will process to the Fine Arts Center from the gymnasium. They should meet in the Fogarty Center no later than 8:10 am. Caps and gowns are to be worn for mass. The awards ceremony will immediately follow mass. The program will conclude at approximately 10:30 am. All seniors and their guests are invited to join us for a reception afterwards in the high school cafeteria.

  • Commencement Exercises. Graduation will be Friday, May 31, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the Fogarty Center. Seniors are to report to the cafeteria no later than 6:30 pm, and commencement exercises will begin promptly at 7:00 pm. Each senior will be receiving seven (7) tickets. Guests’ attendance at graduation will be by ticket only. If you will not be using all seven tickets, please return any extra tickets in order that larger families may be accommodated. The graduation exercises are a formal occasion, and appropriate behavior of the graduates and guests is expected.

    • Please note...
      • Students taking the first exam of the day should report to that location by 7:45 am.
      • Exams will be taken during exam week for all non-elective courses in the following departments: English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
      • Seniors may be exempt from exams if they earn a 90% average for the year or take an AP exam in the course.
      • Students are expected to take exams during the designated time on the schedule. Students who have a Science exam to take will be allowed to take this exam during the Math or English exam time slot if they do not have to take a Math or English exam.
      • Seniors who miss an exam due to illness should contact their teachers to set up a time to take the exam by Thursday, May 23rd.
      • Exam grades count as 20% of the semester average. Study for your exams and get a good night of sleep beforehand. Be sure to eat a good breakfast in the morning of the exam.
    • Behavior Expectations...
      • Students who do not have to take an exam do not have to be on campus.
      • Students who are on campus but do not have to take an exam, must report to the cafeteria.
      • Students are expected to stay in the exam room until the end of the testing period.
      • Dress code is to be observed during exams.

From the Guidance Office

  • Course Selection. Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors: Make sure you turn in your course selection forms so that you have a chance to get the electives you requested. 

  • Employment Opportunities
    • Cincinnati Sports Club is hiring for summer positions for anyone who is 18 years or older. Staff members who work more than eight hours a week have free usage of the facility and have opportunities to attend free customer service management training courses. Please email Keirstin Mason at kmason@cincinnatisportsclub.com if you are interested.
    • United States Census 2020 is hiring anyone who is 18 years of age by April 1, 2019. They are looking for students, teachers, parents and alum to apply. There are several positions available for bilinguals as well. All positions are flexible and part-time paying between $14 - $19 per hour. Please call 1-855-JOB-2020 if you are interested in applying.
    • Swimsafe Pool Management is now hiring for lifeguards, pool technicians, pool attendants, concession workers, management positions and swim coaches. You must be 15 years old to apply. Contact Jessica@swimsafepool.com with questions.

From the Drama Guild

Roger Bacon has received nine nominations for Godspell, including Best Musical! The Cappies will be holding their Gala at the Aronoff Center to honor the nineteen participating schools and announce the winners of the 42 different awards. Being nominated for Best Song means that our Drama Guild will perform "Learn Your Lessons Well" on the Aronoff Center stage at the Gala! The Cappies Gala is like the Oscars/Tony Awards of Cincinnati area high school theater and is open to the public. It is a dressy event that begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 23rd at the Aronoff Center. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Aronoff Box Office (513-621-2787) - all are welcome to come. Thank you for your support of our drama programs this year! 

Roger Bacon High School Underwater Hockey Summer Camp

In June 2019, the Roger Bacon High School Underwater Hockey Team will host its 13th annual Roger Bacon Underwater Hockey summer camp for incoming (or rising) 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and incoming Roger Bacon freshmen. Current junior high students will have fun learning the fundamentals of the exciting and unique sport of underwater hockey. The camp will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 10 and running through Friday, June 14, 2019. The camp will be held at Xavier University in the O’Connor Sports Center pool. The cost is $75, and checks should be made payable to “Roger Bacon High School.” Any family with an incoming 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student or an incoming Roger Bacon freshmen who loves to swim and who would like to try underwater hockey should contact Coach Paul “Doc” Wittekind at underwaterhockey@rogerbacon.org for information and details about this summer’s underwater hockey summer camp.
