Winter Season Recap
Both the boys and girls bowling team came in 1st place in the sectional tournament this postseason! It is the second time the boys have accomplished this in program history and the first time for the girls. The boys and girls team also both finished in third place in the GCL-Coed. Lydia Trentman, Ethan Nye and Taylor McIntosh all made 1st Team All-GCLC while Kobe Taylor, Anna Perry and Melanie Petrey all made 2nd Team All-GCLC.
Spartans were led this year by senior Zac Baur (30-11 record) and freshmen Jake Mumper (34-10 record). Both earned spots on 2nd Team All-GCLC. Jake Mumper placed 4th in the sectional tournament which advanced him to districts where his first season ended. Jessica Day became the first female wrestler in Roger Bacon histoty to finish an entire season.
Emily Engel placed 2nd on Floor and 4th All-Around and the team placed 8th overall during the City Championships. Engel was also named to the Enquirer
Sports Gymnastics All-Star Team
First year head coach Erica Schomaker had a tremendous first year with the Spartans, including a trip to the State Meet! Ben Hoffmann, Ben Enderle and Sophie Hunter all finished in the top 3 in the GCLC Championship Meet. Juniors Ben Enderle and Sophie Hunter were named 2nd Team All GCLC. The boys came in 6th place and the girls finished in 8th place in the sectional tournament. Emma Vogler, Meggie Suffoletta, Sophie Hunter, Renee Finan, and Christine Hoffmann advanced to the district meet for the girls while Ben Enderle, Ben Leo, Shea Suggs, and Ben Hoffmann advacned to the district meet for the boys. Junior Ben Enderle qualified for State in the 200 YD IM and 100 YD Breaststroke. The first Spartan to qualify for State since 2010. He finished in 16th place in the 200 YD IM for DII with the time of 1:59.77 which placed him as an All-State swimmer.
The varsity girls basketball team ended their season with a final record of 13-10 (4-6). First year head coach, Jacob Cheesman, was named GCLC Central
Coach of the Year. Coach Cheesman led the Spartans to their best season in nine years. 13 wins and 4 league wins was their most since the 2007-2008 season.
Kelly Brenner (freshmen) was named 1st Team All-GCLC and Jalyn Jackson (sophomore) & Aliyah Huff (senior) were named 2nd Team All-GCLC. Kaylee
Sunders (junior) led the GCLC with 6.0 assists per game.
The Spartans finished their season 25-5 and Division III State Runner Up. They competed in the State Final Four for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. During
Christmas break the varsity team traveled to South Carolina for the Rotary Roundball Classic where they went 3-0 and won the tournament. The Spartans
finished 1st in the GCLC Central for the 8th time in the last 9 years. Were named district champs for the 7th time in the last 8 years and regional
champs for the 3rd time in the last 4 years. 25 wins ties the school record for wins in one season (2002). Head coach Brian Neal celebrated his 200th
career win on February 28th in a win over Finneytown. Craig McGee Jr leaves his name all over the record book as he finishes 1st in career assists,
steals and games played. He also ranks 9th all time in points scored. Seniors Justin Johnson and James Johnson crack top 20 all time leading scorers
