Brad Evans, a member of the Class of 2007, posted an open letter to Roger Bacon challenging alumni to match his generous donation in the wake of the rainstorms that rocked St. Bernard. Click here to view a copy of Brad's letter.
As you can see from the pictures, Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium was completely underwater due to a sewage backup from the torrential downpour on Sunday, August 28. The Home of the Spartans was rendered unusable and closed until further notice. That is why Brad’s donation and his challenge is so important – we need your support. Help RB rise from the waters and restore the field for our current students, alumni, family, and friends.
The school has set an aggressive goal – to have the last scheduled home football game, Senior Night, on Friday, October 21 played at Bron Bacevich Stadium. We have also rescheduled our annual Homecoming festivities and parade for the same evening. This requires a lot of work and a lot of money. A new turf field will cost upwards of $400,000.
Many of you remember the magic of a Friday night home game, playing on the soccer team, performing in the band at halftime, or cheering on your son or daughter as they played their hearts out. That is why we are asking for your help – to give our current Spartans and parents the same opportunities.
As our fight song says “Spartan courage never yields, whatever the outcome be, for Roger Bacon, win or lose, is a school of VICTORY!”
Since posting his letter, we have had numerous calls on how people can join Brad, and participate in the #RBrising challenge. A simple, safe and secure way to contribute is online.
