Koinonia

Koinonia

On Monday, September 9, freshman Spartans participated in Koinonia. “Koinonia” means a “community of faith.” The whole day was dedicated to giving freshmen an opportunity to build community together, and to learn more about the connection between faith and service.

Students had an opportunity to play games with their freshman communities--groups of 5 or 6 students who are paired with a senior leader. Freshman Bernadette Peck said her favorite parts of the day were getting to know the members of her community better and learning about service. “I really liked spending time with people in my community,” Bernadette said. “It was good to get closer as a small freshman community so that we can go out and do service to help the larger community!”

While freshman communities got to know each other better, they also reflected on their faith and the significance of serving others. Koinonia is an opportunity to learn more about the service programs and projects supported by Roger Bacon. Freshman Jack Bentley enjoyed learning about the many service opportunities at RB. Jack said, “It was fun to get to find out about all the ways we can help the community through Roger Bacon. I’m excited to get involved in some of the projects.”
