Fr. Roger and Mrs. Flading raise over $2,800 for local charity
Fr. Roger Lopez, OFM and Mrs. Alyssa Flading raised $2,841 for the Aubrey Rose Foundation. Both Fr. Roger and Alyssa raised enough money to rappel 27-stories from a downtown building in July. Fr. Roger raised a total of $1,7841 which was the 5th highest amount raised for Rappel for a Reason. Alyssa Flading raised $1,100 to help local families with financial need because of their children’s medical expenses. They were introduced to the Aubrey Rose Foundation through Molly Hamilton ’21. Molly received a scholarship from the Aubrey Rose Foundation for her freshman year at RB. As a new initiative by the foundation, Rappel for a Reason was an avenue for ABF to raise funds to help families dealing with the financial stress of medical bills.
After a short introduction to rappelling in the 36 E. 7th Street stairwell, Fr. Roger and Alyssa were on the roof ready to go over the edge. Family, friends and co-workers greeted them once they reached the ground, safe and sound. They celebrated their descent with a brunch afterwards and many laughs. Great job to our staff for their dedication to helping others!
