Congratulations to the Class of 2019 Top Ten!
As the year comes to a close, we are showcasing the students who, through their hard work and dedication, are graduating at the top of their class.
4: Jacob Beyer
Acceptances: Miami University - Oxford, University of Cincinnati, and Shawnee State University
College and Major: Shawnee State University - Biology
Total Scholarships Offered: $112,000
Jacob is one of eight outstanding students to receive the Shawnee Scholar Award. This is a four-year renewable full-tuition scholarship. Students must receive a score of 30 or higher on the ACT and a grade point average of at least a 3.8 to be considered for this prestigious award.
He will be majoring in biology with plans to pursue a graduate degree. “I want to study biology because of the rising number of ways people are impacting the environment.”
Jacob will also be continuing his athletic career and running Cross Country and Track for the Bears. “When I was asked to commit, I was surprised and humbled. It makes me want to work harder and be a better runner.”
3: Anneliese Lorsbach
Acceptances: Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati, and Xavier University
College and Major: Xavier University - Nursing
Total Scholarships Offered: $94,000
Four years ago, Anneliese and her family moved over 600 miles from Little Rock, Arkansas to Cincinnati. She his choosing to stay in her adopted city and attend Xavier University. “There are a lot of opportunities and schools here. I chose XU because it is a small school where you can know a lot of people but are still able to meet several new friends.”
With both parents working in the medical field, she has some insight on what it takes to be a good nurse. “I like being able to help people and want to be the bridge between doctors and patients.”
Looking back at her time at Roger Bacon, she ranks the opening night of Godspell and Kairos as her two favorite memories. “Kairos was simply amazing -- our class grew close to one another. And everyone was super excited at opening night. Godspell was the best show we put on.”
