Class of 2018 Top Ten - Week 2

Class of 2018 Top Ten - Week 2

Congratulations to the Class of 2018 Top Ten!

For the next five weeks, we will showcase the students who, through their hard work and dedication, are graduating at the top of their class.

8: Lily Petrey

Acceptances:  Butler University, Miami University-Oxford, University of Dayton, and Xavier University
College and Major: University of Dayton – Psychology
Total Scholarships Offered: $286,400

The University of Dayton appears to be the perfect fit for Lily, who thrived as a member of the Campus Ministry team at Roger Bacon.  "I really like that the campus is small enough to make me feel comfortable, but also has many things to get involved in, especially in spiritual life."  Lily is looking forward to continuing her participation in the Appalachia Program on UD's campus.  She will be joining current Roger Bacon students and other University of Dayton students on a summer mission trip to Kentucky.
Her passion for serving and helping others is one of the reasons Lily is pursuing a degree in psychology, with the hopes of becoming a psychologist. "I have always found the subject interesting, and I'd be able to help people."
She is currently connecting with potential roommates through the university's app.  She is looking forward to meeting new people and the independence that comes with college-life.

7: Bridget Woeste

Acceptances: Miami University-Oxford, Northern Kentucky University, The Ohio State University, St. Bonaventure University, Thomas More College, University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati, and Xavier University
College and Major: Xavier University – Nursing
Total Scholarships Offered: $228,150
Bridget will not be the only Woeste attending Xavier University.  When asked about her choice, she responded: "My sister Ally '17 goes there and she has been very successful.  Also, I can be a certified nurse in four years with Xavier's program, rather than simply going through a pre-nursing program."  Bridget plans on using her eventual experience as a nurse to springboard to a Master's in Health Administration.

Even though she will be living at home and commuting, she plans on taking advantage of all the fun activities on campus.  "XU has a great atmosphere.  I am looking forward to basketball and soccer games on campus."   Bridget credits Roger Bacon with helping her to be more outgoing -- "I won't have a problem getting involved or making friends."
