Baseball season recap
The Spartans fell to Summit Country Day on May 10th to bring their exciting season to an end. The Spartans end their season with a record of 12-13 (7-5 in the GCLC).
The Spartans were one of the hottest teams in the city as they rattled off 10 wins in 13 games in April. Offensively, they were led by Brian Schnedl (.379BA), Jeordon Kuderer (.364 BA, 28 hits, 17 RBI), and Chris Hoffmann (.350 BA, 28 hits). On the mound, Tyler Bullock and Chris Kugele led the team in wins (3) while Josh Brenner became the 7th Spartan to toss a no-hitter.
Jeordon Kuderer has put together quite the career on the baseball field. Most recently, he celebrated his 100th career hit in a Roger Bacon uniform on April 24th. He has thrown two no-hitters which no other Spartan has done. Holds the single season record for BA (at least 70 AB's) at .529. Since 2005, Jeordon ranks #1 in the following categories: hits, AB's, 2B's and RBI's and 3rd in career BA. He has signed to continue his baseball career at Wittenberg University.
The seniors that are graduating this year were a major part of the revival of Roger Bacon Baseball. To quote Coach McDaniel, “Four years ago they began
their time on the Roger Bacon Baseball team, they finished in the Roger Bacon Baseball PROGRAM."
"I can’t thank them enough for their hard work, dedication, and leadership throughout the last four years. They are leaving behind large footsteps to fill, in which I fully believe can be filled by the underclassmen. We are loaded with young talent and the future is brighter than it has ever been in my 11 years as head coach of this program. “Development” is the key word for the future. What a time to be a SPARTAN!", says Coach McCoy.
