Austin Fulton crowned State Runner Up!

Austin Fulton made history this past weekend at the DII Track & Field State Meet by jumping 6'7 in the High Jump finals! Austin came up just short of claiming the state title but finished in 2nd place and was crowned as State Runner Up! To watch his record breaking jump, click here!

“My coaches prepared me for this, my friends have helped me keep my confidence up and my dad, he’s up here with me and giving me confidence, they all really helped,” Fulton said. “My goal was a school record but I did want to win state, but last year, my personal record was 6-2, to come into this year and jump 6-6 and then end the year jumping 6-7 is really good.”

Also, senior Sam Johnstone competed in his third straight State Meet in the 1600m. Sam, who was also the valedictorian of the class of 2017, finished in 14th place with a time of 4:30.37. Sam is the only Spartans to ever qualify for State three years in a row!
