Each year, the Community Outreach Board thinks of a fun way for our students to give back to families during the holidays. This year, the Community Outreach Board ran the traditional Assist-a-Family but brought in a few new incentives to drive up donations and, it worked!
The Spartans collected $2,378.39 for Kroger gift cards and 602 gifts to be donated to the St. George Food Pantry and the Bond Hill Food Pantry at the Church of the Redeemer. According to the chair persons, Grace Nonnamaker and Ben Leo our flex bells exceeded their goals and they were surprised by how excited students were for the event. Grace and Ben think it was the incentives. The incentives for this year's drive was to shave a particular teacher's head or beard. On the table as options are: Mr. Schad, Mr. Zlatic, Fr. Roger and even Mr. Monohan's beard (which he hasn't shaved in 7 years!)
The level winners get to decide between two people to shave. Our top level winners who get to decide between shaving Mr. Monohan or Br. Chris's beard, or Mr. Schad or Mr. Zlatic's head are: Mr. Brasselton's freshman flex bell and Ms. Moore's senior flex bell.
Even through all the fun, our students' eyes are open to the idea of love at Christmas time. Grace Nonnamaker said it best, "We give because our Christian faith calls us to love."
